"He was a funny, sweet young man with the most caring heart and constantly showed it through his actions towards his family, friends and loved ones," Desiray Bibber, who organized a fundraiser for Montalvo's funeral expenses said.
As of Thursday, Sept. 14, more than $21,000 has been raised.
"Trey was a one of a kind and impacted each and every one of us around him," Bibber said. "None of us will ever be the same without him."
Montalvo was a member of the Hoboken Elks Lodge. A funeral was held at St. Francis Church on Monday, Sept. 11. Montalvo was buried at Arlington Cemetery in Kearny.
